During the five month road of my eye surgeries they've taken photographs of my retina as part of the diagnosis process. The first time my husband and I saw them I knew I had to get my own copies of them! It was amazing to see just how beautiful the retina is (when it's healthy or not!).

First off, here's an image of a normal, healthy retina...

Now on to my left eye, the healthier of the two. The globby shape you see is part of the progression of my degenerative myopia (simple explanation - the retina has been overstretched and is wearing thin).

<img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/parade/users/dlhgphoto/b...

Hi all!

I'm taking a short break from catching up after my bed rest last month after my eye-trastophy (those are the kinds of words you make up after too much caffeine). If you're not sure what I'm talking out check out the previous post called "The Mystery of the Missing Dawn".

Life is slowly getting back to normal and I'm getting caught up after so much time away from reality. My eyesight in the bad eye isn't completely back to normal yet, and I may have to go through a couple more procedures and possibly another surgery - BUT, it is getting better. I can see a little better out of it, and I've gotten used to the distortion. My other eye is still happy and content rellishing the praise I give it daily for being suc...

As many of you know, and have some of you have even emailed me about, I haven't posted in a new blog in a few weeks. (It's nice to know people are reading the blog!)

I've had the recent "adventure" if you will of a torn retina in my right eye. I've had two procedures to hopefully correct what was a somewhat substantial sized tear, and a little over two weeks of bedrest... and not fun bedrest, either!

The first procedure involved putting a gas bubble into the eye, and then using a type of cryo-laser to create scar tissue in the eye. The bubble was supposed to push the retina back into place against the scar tissue and give it something to grab on to. The big drag, besides having a bubble in your eye which royally...

How to share a moment together before the ceremony without seeing each other!

As much as I love doing the First Sight Photo, I know and respect that it's not for everyone. But, there's just something about that excitement between a bride and groom being near each other before the ceremony that I LOVE to capture. To capture this excitement, including those who don't want to see each other until the ceremony, I've found a fun way to capture them together without seeing each other.

I put the bride and groom either around the corner from each other, on different levels of the stairs, or right next to each other with their eyes closed. It's a fun and romantic way to share just a little moment together, say "I Love You&q...

If you're at all like me, hanging your latest favorite print on the wall is a bit of an annoyance. Not only does it take me forever to get it straight (even when I get all fancy and do the measurements, etc, etc), I always seem to end up adding extra holes to the wall. Drives me crazy!!! The point? I recently received a new large gallery wrap print for my studio, and it came with the hardware to hang it. The hardware is what is now one of my favorite sanity savers of life!

It's called the Beehive Hanger, and it will save your sanity the next time you're hanging your new wall print! This wonderful invention no longer requires exact measurements (and for anyone who's had to hang something on the wall knows I mean <stro...

As many of my brides will tell you, when I photograph a wedding, I don't just stand on the side like a wallflower. I do whatever I can to help make a wedding go smoothly, and most importantly, to keep the bride and groom smiling and focusing on each other. I joke with my brides that I'm a "Full Service Photographer".

I've help set up decorations... I've helped write ceremonies...

On the big day I've helped smooth out fights between family, I've driven the bride and groom to the locations when the original transport didn't work out. I often help tie up the bustle, and at almost every wedding, I end up fixing a torn bustle when someone steps on the gown. I've helped the bride into her gown when the ...
