Come Rain or Come Shine...
"I'm gonna love you... like noboy's loved you, come rain or come shine..."
One of my favorite jazz standards written by Harold Arlen and lyrics by Johnny Mercer, could have been a fitting theme song for Melissa and Eben's wedding. This beautiful wedding held at Larkspur Farms in Mount Vernon, Washington was a true testament to what's important on your wedding day, and whether or not you'll let the little stuff get you down.
One of my favorite outdoor venues, Larkspur Farms has a great rustic and romatic feel. The only drawback, it's all outside. So, you're completely at the mercy, or lack of mercy, of Mother Nature! When any of my couples have outdoor weddings or receptions I encourage them to be prepared, and it's a good thing Melissa and Eben were with the help of their wedding planner, Judi Bloom of Quackers Quintessential Events. With perfect wedding weather all the week before, and as luck should have it, the week after, we were "blessed" with rather rainy weather on the big day. Everyone was there early and readjusting their plans. While a little disappointed initially upon arrival with the rain, as soon as they started getting ready the smiles beamed across their faces and they could only think of what mattered - each other. From that point on it was non-stop laughter and wonderful moments. The ceremony was very intimate under the tent, and the reception was one of the best and most active I've ever attended! The rain didn't stop them one bit, and they showed everyone that the Irish belief of rain being lucky on a wedding day must be true. You see, the Irish believe that rain on a wedding day is a sign of a blessed, long lasting and fruitfull marriage. You can't have growth and life without a little rain! Once they saw each other for the First Sight photo, the rain was invisible, and the love between the two of them put Mother Nature in her place!
